If you’ve ever raised a child, you may know that there are a number of training toothpastes you could choose for your child. You might also know that several toothpastes contain fluoride, but would you be surprised to hear that training toothpastes don’t? Toothpaste that has fluoride shouldn’t be swallowed, so we recommend waiting until your child is able to spit out their toothpaste by themselves. You should also to be careful the amount of fluoride you put on your brush as they get older since overexposure to fluoride can lead to fluorosis.
Fluorosis is actually caused by having insufficient minerals in your layer of your little one’s teeth, which occurs when a child consumes too much fluoride. To avoid this problem, make sure your children don’t swallow their toothpaste. Fluoride is generally added often added to drinking water to stop tooth decay from forming. Another interesting fact about fluorosis is that it only occurs when teeth are forming.
If your child is dealing with fluorosis, you may spot white lines or spots on their teeth, Fluorosis may also cause dark spots. While these imperfections might be embarrassing, fluorosis isn’t harmful and is treatable. You may also be able to prevent fluorosis by making sure they spit their toothpaste out.
