To restore the health, function, and appearance of your smile after a tooth has been damaged or weakened, we are proud to provide a tooth-shaped cap called a dental crown in Calgary, Alberta.
There are many reasons why you might need a dental crown, which may include:
• To protect a weak tooth
• To support a tooth with a large filling
• To restore a broken tooth
• To cover a worn-down tooth
• To hold a dental bridge in place
• To disguise a discolored tooth
• To cover a dental implant
• To make a cosmetic alteration
The process of installing a crown traditionally involves two trips to a dental office, but at our office, we can provide dental crowns in just one visit using CEREC® technology. To begin, our dentist will examine and prepare the tooth. Dr. Nathalie Dowsett prepares the tooth by shaving the surfaces down to allow room for the crown. Once the tooth is the correct shape, she will take digital impressions of the tooth and use them to digitally design your crown. Then our dentist will use a milling or grinding machine to construct your dental crown right in our office. The construction of your crown will only take a few minutes. Our dentist will check the fit and then permanently cement your dental crown in place.
